It is the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and prevent disease - but you've probably never heard of him. It is the secret to prevent aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more, and necessary to treat everything from autism to Alzheimer's disease. There are over 89,000 medical articles about it - but your doctor does not know how to address the epidemic of the deficiency of this key molecule that gives life ... What is it? I'm talking about the mother of all antioxidants, the master detoxifier and maestro of the immune system: glutathione (pronounced "gloota thigh-own"). The good news is that your body produces its own glutathione. The bad news is that poor nutrition, pollution, toxins, medications, stress, trauma, aging, infections and radiation all deplete your glutathione. This makes it susceptible to uncontrolled cell disintegration of oxidative stress, free radicals , infections and cancer. And the liver is overloaded and damaged, making it unable to do its job of detoxification. In the treatment of patients with chronic diseases Functional Medicine for more than 10 years, I have discovered that deficiency of glutathione is found in almost all patients very sick. These are people with chronic fatigue syndrome, heart disease, cancer, chronic infections, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, autism, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, arthritis, asthma, kidney problems, liver disease and more. At first I thought it was an incidental finding, but over the years I've realized that our ability to produce and maintain a high level of glutathione is essential for the recovery of almost all chronic diseases - and to prevent disease and maintain health and high performance. The authors of the 76,000 medical articles on glutathione mentioned earlier found the same thing! So today's blog I want to explain what is glutathione, why is it important and gives 9 tips to help you optimize your glutathione levels, improve its system of detoxification and help protect yourself from illness chronic. What is Glutathione? Glutathione is a very simple molecule that occurs naturally all the time in your body. It is a combination of three simple elements of proteins or amino acids - cysteine, glycine and glutamine. The secret of its power is the sulfur (SH) chemical groups it contains. Sulfur is a molecule sticky and smelly. It acts as the role of flying and all the bad things in the body stick on it, including free radicals and toxins as mercury and other heavy metals. Normally glutathione is recycled in the body - except when the toxic load becomes too large. And that explains why we have problems such ... In my practice, proof of the genes involved in glutathione metabolism. These are the genes involved in the production of enzymes that allow the body to create and recycle glutathione in the body. These genes have many names, such as GSTM1, GSTP1, and more. These genes altered in some people for a variety of important reasons. We humans evolved in a time before the 80,000 toxic industrial chemicals found in our current environment in our world were introduced before the electromagnetic radiation was everywhere and before our polluted skies, lakes, rivers, oceans and teeth with mercury and lead. That's why most people survived the basic version of the software coded genetic detoxification in our DNA, which is mediocre in ridding the body of toxins. In humans evolved over time simply did not need more. Who knew that we were poisoning ourselves and eat a thousand processed, nutrient-years later? Since most of us do not require additional software detox, nearly half the population has a limited capacity to get rid of toxins. These people are missing GSTM1 function - one of the most important genes that are needed in the process of creating and recycling of glutathione in the body. Most of my very sick patients are losing this function. The third of our population that suffers from a chronic lack this gene essential. That includes me. Twenty years ago I became mercury poisoned and suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome because of this same problem. My role GSTM1 was inadequate and do not produce enough glutathione as a result. Over time, my body broke down and made me very badly ... This is the same problem that I see in many of my patients. They are missing this critical gene, and descend to the disease as a result. Let me explain how this happens ... The importance of glutathione in protection against chronic disease Glutathione is critical for one simple reason: It recycles antioxidants. You see, dealing with free radicals is like handing off a hot potato. They are going around the vitamin C to vitamin E for lipoic acid and finally to glutathione, which cools the free radicals and recycles other antioxidants. After this happens, the body can "reduce" or regenerate another molecule of glutathione to protect and we are back in business. However, problems occur when we are overwhelmed by oxidative stress too much or too many toxins. Then, glutathione is depleted and we can not protect against free radicals, infection or cancer and can not get rid of toxins. This leads to illness and soon we are on the downward spiral of chronic illness. But that's not all. Glutathione is also essential to help your immune system do its job of fighting infections and prevent cancer. That's why studies show that may help in the treatment of AIDS. (I) Glutathione is also the most critical and integral part of your detoxification system. All toxins stick on the glutathione, which then leads to the bile and feces - and out of your body. And finally, also helps us to reach the mental and physical function peak. Research has shown that raised glutathione levels decrease muscle damage, reduce recovery time, increase strength and endurance and metabolism shift from production of fat to muscle development. If you are sick or old or simply not in peak form, it is likely that deficiency of glutatión.De fact, the top British medical journal The Lancet, found that higher levels of glutathione in healthy young people, the lowest levels in healthy elderly, even lower in older patients and the lowest of all in the hospitalized elderly. (Ii) maintain healthy, increase yield, prevent disease and aging and to maintain high levels of glutathione. I'll say it again ... Glutathione is so important because it is responsible for maintaining many of the keys to UltraWellness optimized. It is essential for immune function and inflammation control. It is the main detoxifying and the body's main antioxidant, protecting our cells and make our energy metabolism running well. And the good news is that you can do many things to increase this natural and critical molecule in your body. You can eat glutathione-boosting food. You can exercise. And you can take supplements of glutathione-boosting. We will review more details about each. 9 Tips to optimize their levels of glutathione These 9 tips will help you improve your levels of glutathione, improve your health, optimize performance and live a long and healthy life. Eat foods that support glutathione Production 1. Eat foods rich in sulfur. The main diet are garlic, onions and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, cauliflower, watercress, etc.) 2. Try bioactive whey protein. This is a great source of cysteine and the amino acid building blocks for the synthesis of glutathione. As you know, I'm not a big fan of dairy. But this is an exception - with some caveats. MUST whey protein and bioactive proteins made from non-denatured ("denaturation" refers to the breakdown of normal protein structure). Choose unpasteurized and industrial production of milk that contains no pesticides, hormones or antibiotics. Immunocal is a recipe of bioactive whey protein, non-denatured, which is still listed in the Physician's Desk Reference. Exercise your way to glutathione Plus 3. Exercise increases levels of glutathione and therefore helps to stimulate your immune system, enhance detoxification and improve the body's own antioxidant defenses. Start slowly and increase to 30 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise such as walking or jogging, or playing different sports. Strength training for 20 minutes 3 times a week is also helpful. Taking supplements of glutathione Support One would think that would be easy just to take glutathione in pill form, but the body digests protein - so would not get the benefits if you did this. However, the production and recycling of glutathione in the body requires many nutrients and can take them. These are the main supplements to be taken to constantly push glutathione. Besides taking a multivitamin and fish oil, support for my glutathione levels with these supplements is the most important thing I do every day for my personal health. 4. N-acetyl-cysteine. This has been used for years to help treat asthma and lung disease and to treat people with life-threatening liver failure from an overdose of Tylenol. In fact, I learned that in medical school while working in the emergency room. Even is given to prevent kidney damage from dyes used in imaging studies. 5. Alpha lipoic acid. This is a close second in importance of glutathione in our cells and is involved in energy production, control of blood sugar, brain health and detoxification. The body normally do, but considering all the tensions that are often depleted. 6. Methylation nutrients (folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12). These are perhaps the most critical in maintaining the body's production of glutathione. Methylation and the production and recycling of glutathione are the two most important biochemical functions in your body. Taking folic acid (especially in the active form of 5 methyltetrahydrofolate), B6 (P5P active form) and B12 (in the active form of methylcobalamin). 7. Selenium. This important mineral helps the body recycle and produce more glutathione. 8. A family of antioxidants like vitamins C and E (as mixed tocopherols), work together to recycle glutathione. 9. Milk thistle (silymarin) has been used in liver disease and helps increase levels of glutathione. So use these nine tips and see how they work to help their optimzie glutathione levels. When you do, you can take one more step to vibrant health for life. Now I would like to hear from you ... Have you heard of this important nutrient before?
